Bellport High School Senior Kendra Pelkey, a beautiful young talented & budding artist who suffers from a rare germ cell ovarian Cancer, held a one day "Art show" on Saturday May 14th, 2005 for artists of all ages. The Kendra & Friends Art Show benefitted a local Gynecological Cancer Group called the LI OCEANS~ which is an acronym for Long Island Ovarian Cancer Education Advocacy, Networking & Support.
The 1st Annual "Kendra & Friends" Art Show was a great success, it attracted a glittering crowd of art lovers, collectors, connoisseurs, local socialites, native long islanders, supporters and the curious.
The Art Show provided an incredible opportunity for local artisans, aspiring artists, the new & emerging, as well as the well-established artists in an array of mediums to showcase their talents. A wide variety of creativity & talent was displayed. The Art Show featured exceptional works of art in an array of media, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, wood block, paper collages, scratchboard and wood sculptures, video, textile, glasswork and more.
In addition to the Art Showcase & Exhibit there was live music, a plant sale, food, beverages , refreshments and a live auction.
LI OCEANS Ovarian Cancer Group members were on hand to help
providing Symptom Cards, Brochures and information about the often Silent, signs & symptoms of Ovarian Cancer.
"The exhibition was an excellent opportunity for Artists & Art Lovers to converge.
Thanks to all the valued volunteers, gracious vendors and family members who volunteered their time towards making this event a success.
